West Virginia will elect a Governor in 2016.
 
General Election voter registration deadline – October 18, 2016
 
General Election date – November 8, 2016

Early voting –
 
In person – Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse necessary.  Early in-person 
voting is available between October 26, 2016 and November 5, 2016.  For 
locations and hours of polling places, go to http://www.sos.wv.gov/elections/Vote/EarlyVoting/Pages/default.aspx and click on your county.
 
By mail – Voting by mail is permitted only if you have a valid excuse such as that you will be away from your county of residence on Election Day and through all of the early voting period or you have health problems or a physical disability.
 
Requests for absentee/vote by mail ballots must be received by November 2, 2016.  Ballots must be postmarked by Election Day, November 8, 2016, to be counted.
