In person – A voter may vote early in person only if he qualifies as an absentee voter (see “By mail” below).  Absentee voting in person begins approximately 45 days before the election at the voter’s local registrar’s office.  The deadline for applying to vote absentee in person is three days before the election (November 5).  Voters should check with their local registrar for locations and times for absentee in-person voting.  Voters must already be registered at least five days before they can vote early in person.
By mail – A voter may vote early by mail if he meets one of several criteria, among which are: the voter will be away from his county of registration on Election Day; the voter cannot go to the polls due to illness, disability, or pregnancy; the voter is a caregiver to a family member who is ill or disabled; or if the voter, in the regular course of business, will spend at least 11 hours working and commuting to and from his job on Election Day.
Applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be received no later than the Tuesday before the election (November 1) or completed in person at the registrar’s office at least three days before the election (November 5).  Absentee ballots must be returned by Election Day.
