Illinois will elect a Governor in 2018.

Primary Election voter registration deadline – By mail, February 20, 2018; in person from
February 21 to March 20, 2018.

General Election voter registration deadline – By mail, October 9, 2018; in person, from 
October 9 to November 6, 2018.

General Election date – November 6, 2018

Early voting –

In person – Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse required.  In-person early voting is available for the Primary Election from February 8 through March 19, 2018; for the General Election from September 27 through November 5, 2018.

By mail –   Any voter may vote early by mail, no excuse required. 

Mailed applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots for the Primary Election must be received between December 20, 2017 and March 15, 2018; for the General Election between August 8 and November 1, 2018.    Applications may be requested in person until the day before the election. 

Completed absentee ballots must be postmarked by the day before the election and received within two weeks after the election.
