NORTH CAROLINA

North Carolina will elect a Governor in 2012

Presidential and State Primary registration deadline – April 13, 2012 or in person at early voting between April 19 and May 5, 2012.

Presidential and State Primary date – May 8, 2012

State Primary runoff date (if necessary) – June 26, 2012

General Election registration deadline – October 12, 2012 or in person at early voting between October 18 and November 3, 2012.

Early voting

In person – Any voter may register and/or vote early in person at One Stop Absentee Voting sites, no excuse required.

In person early voting for the Primary begins April 19 and ends May 5.

In person early voting for the General Election begins October 18 and ends November 3.

Voters may vote early and in person at their County Board of Elections office or at One Stop Voting Sites around the state. They may even register to vote on the same day that they vote early.

By mail – Any voter may vote early by mail, no excuse required.

Primary absentee ballots must be requested by May 1; marked ballots must be received by the County Board of Elections no later than May 7.

General Election absentee ballots must be requested by October 30; marked ballots must be received by the County Board of Elections no later than November 5.
