Presidential Primary registration deadline – March 30, 2012

Presidential Primary date – April 24, 2012

State Primary registration deadline – August 17, 2012

State Primary date – September 11, 2012

General Election registration deadline – October 12, 2012

Early voting

In person – Voting early in person is not permitted.

By mail – A voter may vote early by mail if he: will be unavoidably absent from his county or, if a resident of the city of New York absent from said city, on Election Day; will be unable to appear at the polls due to illness or disability; is a patient in a Veterans’ Administration Hospital; is detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony

Applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be received no later than April 17 for the Presidential Primary; September 4 for the State Primary; and October 30 for the General Election. Absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked no later than the day before the election or delivered in person to the Board of Elections by Election Day.
