Early voting:

In person – Voting early in person is not permitted.

By mail – A voter may vote early by mail if he: will be unavoidably absent from his county or, if a resident of the city of New York absent from said city, on Election Day; will be unable to appear at the polls due to illness or disability; is a patient in a Veterans’ Administration Hospital; is detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony

Applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked no later than April 19, 2016 for the Presidential Primary, June 21, 2016 for the State Primary, and November 1, 2016 for the General Election. Voters can apply in person for an absentee ballot until the day before the election. Absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be postmarked no later than the day before the election or delivered in person to the Board of Elections by Election Day.
