New Mexico will elect a U.S. Senator in 2012

Presidential and State Primary registration deadline – May 8, 2012 by mail; May 11, 2012 in person

Presidential and State Primary date – June 5, 2012

General Election registration deadline – October 9, 2012 by mail; October 12, 2012 in person

Early voting

In person – Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse required. Early in-person voting is available for the Primary between May 8 and June 2; for the General Election between October 9 and November 3.

Voters may go to their local County Clerk’s Office to vote early or call the County Clerk to find alternate voting sites. Contact information for County Clerk’s Offices is available at http://www.sos.state.nm.us/Voter_Information/County_Clerk_Information.aspx

By mail – Any voter may vote early by mail. Absentee/vote-by-mail ballots may be requested for the Primary no later than June 1; for the General Election no later than November 2. All absentee ballots must be received by election officials by the close of polls on Election Day.
