MONTANA

Montana will elect a U.S. Senator and a Governor in 2012.

Presidential and State Primary registration deadline – Postmarked by May 7, 2012; in person by close of polls on Primary Day, June 5, 2012.

General Election registration deadline – Postmarked by October 9, 2012; in person by close of polls on Election Day, November 6, 2012.

Early voting

In person – Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse required. Early in-person voting is available for the Primary between May 7 and noon, June 4; for the General Election between October 9 and noon, November 5.

Voters may visit their local County Election Administrator to apply for, receive, and vote their absentee ballot early and in person on the same day. A list of County Election Administrators is available at http://sos.mt.gov/Elections/forms/elections/electionadministrators.pdf

By mail – Any voter may vote early by mail, no excuse required. Applications for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots may be submitted 75 days before an election. Applications must be submitted no later than noon of the day before the election. Absentee ballots must be received by the close of polls on Election Day.
