Early voting –

In person – Traditional early voting in person is not permitted. If a voter qualifies for an absentee ballot, however, (see “By mail” below), he may take his absentee ballot to the local election authority and vote in person up until the night before the election.

By mail – A voter may vote early by mail if he meets one of the following qualifications: absence from “the jurisdiction of the election authority in which such voter is registered to vote” on Election Day; illness or physical disability (including caregivers of those with an illness or physical disability); work at a polling place other than his own on Election Day; religious belief or practice prevents going to the polls; incarceration, provided person is otherwise eligible to vote.

A request for an absentee/vote-by-mail ballot may be made six weeks before an election and must be received by the voter’s local election authority no later than 5:00 p.m. on the Wednesday before the election. A mailed absentee ballot must be received by the close of polls on Election Day.
