Early voting –
In person –
A voter may vote early in person if he will be
absent from his city or town on Election Day, has a physical disability that
prevents him from going to his polling place, or cannot vote at the polls
due to religious belief. Once absentee ballots are available (usually three
weeks before an election), the voter may go to his local city or town hall,
apply for and vote an absentee ballot all in the same visit. The deadline
for early in-person absentee voting is noon on the day before the election.
By mail –
A voter may vote early by mail if he has a valid
reason (see “In person” early voting above). Applications for
absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be received by noon on the day before the
election. Marked ballots must be received by Election Day to be counted.
