2015 Elections (See 2016 Election information)

Louisiana will elect a Governor and State Legislators in 2015.

Primary voter registration deadline – September 23, 2015

Primary date – October 24, 2015

General Election voter registration deadline – October 21, 2015

General Election date – November 21, 2015

Early voting

In person: Any voter may vote early in person, no excuse needed. Early in-person voting dates are as follows

Primary – October 10 to October 17, 2015

General – November 7 to November 14, 2015

By mail: A voter may vote early by mail if he has a valid excuse. The most common valid excuses include: being 65 or over; being in the military or the spouse or dependent of someone in the military; expecting to be away from the voter’s parish of registration during the early voting period and election day; expecting to be hospitalized or restricted to bed by a physician during the early voting period and election day; or being disabled.

Application requests for absentee/vote-by-mail ballots must be made before the following dates:

Congressional/Senate Primary – October 20, 2015

Congressional/Senate General Runoff – November 17, 2015

Voted absentee ballots must be received by the Registrar no later than the day before the election.

2016 Elections

Louisiana will elect a U.S. Senator in 2016.

Presidential Primary voter registration deadline – February 3, 2016

Presidential Primary date – March 5, 2016

Congressional/Senate Primary voter registration deadline – October 11, 2016

Congressional/Senate Primary date – November 8, 2016

Congressional/Senate General Runoff Election voter registration deadline – November 9, 2016

Congressional/Senate General Runoff Election date – December 10, 2016
