Atlanta, GA – Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of
Priests for Life and niece of the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., today said
that recent media stories about Jamie Lynn Spears and other young pregnant women
deciding to keep their babies represent a positive trend for society.
"Jamie Lynn Spears deciding to keep her baby is but the
latest in a series of life affirming examples we've seen in the media lately,"
said Dr. King. "The movies 'Bella,' 'Juno,' and others depict young women
who choose life. Keyshia Cole on her reality TV show strongly advised her
sister not to abort. As we celebrate the most meaningful birth in the
history of man, it’s encouraging that these stories are part of the season of
hope that is Christmas."
"Of course, sexual relations should be reserved for
marriage," added Dr. King. "God tells us what is best for us and our
problems arise when we don't listen to Him. But when we fall, we should
strive to do what's best and what's best is to do the loving thing. Love
lets live. Life brings hope. And hope builds the future."
Priests for Life is the largest Catholic organization exclusively
dedicated to fighting abortion and euthanasia.
