TITUSVILLE, FL -- Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, and Janet Morana, Executive Director, released the following statements today following a failed vote in the U.S. Senate to consider the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.

“The extremism of the Democrats can no longer be ignored or debated,” Father Pavone said. “As Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said on the Senate floor today, this bill merely recognizes that a newborn baby is a newborn baby, no matter what the circumstances were of his or her birth. For the Democrats, a newborn slated for extermination before birth is fair game even after birth. This is infanticide. The only thing Americans can do to protect these most vulnerable babies is to vote out of office those who fail to protect them.

“Priests for Life and other pro-life groups will expose the voting record of every member of the Senate on this bill, and will make it a major election issue. Get involved now in Elections 2020 at www.ProLifeVote.com.”

Mrs. Morana said: “When I was a public school teacher in New York City, my class was hatching baby chicks. One of them was clearly not going to make it but the students pleaded with me to do everything I could to save the chick, whom we had named Olivia. The kids were heartbroken that we could not save her. Today our Senate couldn’t come up with the necessary votes to advance a bill to save human babies who have outlived an abortionist’s best efforts to kill them. Children understand how precious life is; many of our senators seem to have forgotten.”
