Priests for Life Associate Director Fr. Denis Wilde’s Pro-Life Parish Weekend on November 20 involved no airline terminals or train rides. This time Fr. Wilde drove out to Long Island for a visit to St. Lawrence the Martyr Rectory in Sayville, NY.
Saturday morning, Fr. Wilde spoke at a symposium organized by his fellow Chaminade High School alumnus Brian A. Tully, Esq., titled, “End of Life Health Care and the Christian Perspective.” As the closing speaker, he presented and expanded upon the principles for end of life treatment contained in papal and magisterial documents.
Returning to St. Lawrence Church that afternoon, Fr. Wilde offered the 5:00 pm liturgy and then preached at all the Masses the following Sunday to very enthusiastic parishioners. He later shared his musical gifts at a Sunday evening concert.
Being able to stay an extra day, Fr. Wilde spent Monday at Kellenberg High School in Uniondale. He gave presentations to several classes at the 2,400-student campus and met with the Sodality leaders group. The wonderful environment and great spirit of the Kellenberg students were a perfect lead-in to the Thanksgiving holiday.
