Yes, We Can Win the 2026 Midterms
Dear Friends,
Welcome to ProlifeVote, a new organization started by our team at Priests for Life to embody the political work we have done for years and that will now intensify even more.
The 2026 midterms are in full gear, with primary elections still underway and races shaping up for the Fall.
I join in the conviction expressed by US House Speaker Mike Johnson, veteran political expert Dick Morris, and many others, that the midterms of 2026 will defy the historical pattern and that we will indeed gain seats in Congress rather than lose them.
This is true first of all because this Republican Congress and President have an unprecedented record of success since January 2025. The Golden Age of America has truly begun.
The second reason is that the Democrat Party is crazier than ever. They double-down on the 20% side of every 80-20 issue and keep pushing the very things American voters rejected in 2024. They have learned nothing, and have had to move even more to the left precisely because more and more of their moderates have left the party. So now they have to satisfy the more radical base that remains.
So even if some voters are disappointed with our own side, they are downright scared of what would happen if Democrats are elected. Polling, indeed, continues to indicate that the Republican Party is united behind President Trump and his accomplishments. President Trump’s approval rating has been remarkable steady since he was re-elected, staying between 47 and 50 most of the time, which is consistent with the percentage of the popular vote he won in 2024.
At the same time, polling, shows the Democrat Party at historically low favorability ratings, the Republicans closing the gap in the generic ballot.
And although President Trump’s name is not on the ballot, voters realize his agenda – which is their agenda—certainly is, and that they elected Trump for a four-year term, not a two-year term. They realize they need to give him a Congress which will continue to implement that agenda, and translate those Executive Orders into laws, rather than to have a Congress that will bog down him, his team, and the American people in endless frivolous and unconstitutional investigations and impeachments.
All of this is reason for confidence about the midterms, as is the fact that we have won in the redistricting wars, including with a favorable Supreme Court decision and actions by red states that will yield more Republican seats in Congress.
Then there’s the unique way President Trump is campaigning for candidates, including by an unprecedented Republican midterm Convention to take place Sept 9-10 in Dallas.
And these are just a few of the reasons for confidence.
There is a class of “doomers” out there who pretend to be on our side but are constantly complaining; the glass is always half-empty, and nothing done by those we elected in 2024 is good enough for them.
Ignore them. They are wrong, they are being destructive, and they are a small minority.
Keep your eyes on the prize. From today forward, motivate and educate voters within your sphere of influence to register, to vote in the primaries and in the general election, and to get others involved as well.
There’s a very simple principle to keep in mind for these midterms: if we show up, we win!
We have already won the policy debates. It’s just a matter of voting now.
