We will kick off the New Year with a press conference at the National Press Club on January 6 announcing our plans for Elections 2016. The plans involve an election prayer campaign that I ask you to take part in. http://www.priestsforlife.org/pressreleases/5507-priests-for-life-to-announce-election-plans-at-jan-6-press-conference-in-dc
Also, over the next several months the Supreme Court will be reviewing our Priests for Life case against the HHS mandate. Six other cases (including two dioceses and the Little Sisters of the Poor) have been consolidated with ours by the Court, and a decision is expected by the end of June. We urge all believers to pray for victory, and a reversal of the mandate.
The elections and the Supreme Court case are two major events in 2016 that will impact the pro-life movement. We need to have nationwide prayer for both of these causes. Religious freedom is at stake in the HHS challenge, and the very soul of our nation is at stake in the elections.
Prayers for both can be found at PrayerCampaign.org.
We are gearing up for the January Pro-Life events in Washington, DC and San Francisco, CA. I hope you can join me at events on either the East or the West coast later this month! Here’s what’s happening in Washington.
On Thursday, January 21, from 9-10:30 a.m., I will conduct a national prayer vigil at the construction site of a new Planned Parenthood at 1225 4th St. NE, Washington, DC. Many other pro-life leaders and activists will join in prayer and protest to stop the construction of this building and to protest the actions of Planned Parenthood nationwide! We have prayers for these intentions online, also at PrayerCampaign.org that you can use. We also encourage you to use the hashtag #PrayPP and #ProtestPP.
Also on January 21 from 2-4:30 p.m. the pastoral team of Priests for Life and other leaders will speak at the official March for Life Youth Rally which is organized by Stand True, the Youth Outreach of Priests for Life. It will take place in the Grand Ballroom at the official March for Life hotel which is the Renaissance Downtown Hotel, 999 Ninth Street NW, Washington, D.C.
On Friday, January 22, Tony Melendez will be our special musical guest at the 22nd Annual National Memorial for the Pre-born and their Mothers and Fathers. This service will be from 8:30-10:30 a.m. with a 7:30 a.m. Catholic Mass at DAR Constitution Hall, 1776 D St., NW (18th and D St). This location is a very short walk to the new March for Life rally starting point! This event is free and there is plenty of room for large groups. At this prayer service we will also give an award to Governor Sam Brownback for making Kansas the first State to pass the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act. Priests and Deacons are invited to take part in the Mass and clergy of all denominations are invited to process in and sit on stage during the ecumenical service. For more information see NationalPrayerService.com.
After the March, at approximately 2:30 p.m. – as the marchers begin to reach the Supreme Court, the Gathering of the Silent No More Awareness Campaign (a joint project of Priests for Life and Anglicans for Life) will begin there at the steps of the Supreme Court. The public is asked to come and support these brave women and men who will give their testimonies.
Are you leading a bus/group to Washington DC or San Francisco? We are once again making special materials available for the people on your bus. Just let me know if you are interested, at firstname.lastname@example.org. (If you are a bus captain yourself, please let me know that, too!)

Finally, I will have a new book coming out in the spring called “Proclaiming the Message of Life.” Keep an eye out for more information about that.
