“When a prayer or plea is made by any of your people…each on aware of his afflictions and pain…then hear from heaven…” 2 Chronicles 6:29-30
Reflection: Bertrand Russell once wrote, “A fisherman once told me that fish have neither sense nor sensation, but how he knew this, he could not tell me.”
A practicing abortionist once told me that unborn children could feel no pain — but how he know this, he could not tell me either. Research now suggests that babies in the womb feel pain much earlier than we thought.
Prayer: Lord, may the pain of these children awaken the consciences of your people, that the killing may end. Amen.
“We know through our decades of work with our Rachel’s Vineyard and the Silent No More Awareness Campaign ministries that many women are coerced into abortion. Where is freedom of choice when women are forced by parents, boyfriends or husbands to end the life of the child they are carrying?

“We need first of all to foster…a contemplative outlook [which] arises from faith in the God of life, who has created every individual as a ‘wonder'” – The Gospel of Life, 83.
Reflection: There are two ways to look at a tree: we can calculate the value of the lumber, or we can be moved by the beauty of the branches. Both views have their place, but our culture has gone overboard in calculating usefulness, to the detriment of reverence. This is especially dangerous when we look at human lives for their productivity rather than their dignity.
Prayer: Lord, fill us with wonder as we contemplate human life and all your creation. Amen.
“He will not speak on his own authority, but he will speak what he hears…for he will take what is mine and communicate it to you.” (Jn. 16:13-14)
Reflection: The Holy Spirit is God, and all he says to us is consistent with what the Father and the Son have revealed. “The Holy Spirit…will…remind you of all that I told you” (Jn.14:26). No disciple can claim the “freedom of the Spirit” to contradict the commandments, including that which forbids the killing of the innocent.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of all people, that they may not believe any new or false gospels that justify the Culture of Death. Amen.
Dr. George Delgado, a pro-life family physician who has been instrumental in saving hundreds of babies with the abortion pill reversal protocol, has joined Priests for Life’s board of medical advisors.
“Dr. Delgado’s pro-life passion and commitment make him a valuable addition to our medical advisory team,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life.
Dr. Delgado joins other high-profile physicians on the advisory board, including: Dr. Anthony Levatino — a well-known speaker who gives testimony about his former practice of abortions, Dr. William R. Lile, Dr. Daniel Lee Holland, Dr. Byron Calhoun and Dr. Matthew P. Harrison.
“I’m honored to be able to help with the mission of Priests for Life,” Dr. Delgado said, “and I look forward to the opportunity to continue to work in collaboration with Father Pavone.”
Dr. Delgado is the medical director of Abortion Pill Reversal (APR) and Culture of Life Services (COLFS) in San Diego County. He received his medical degree from the University of California, Davis, and completed his residency at Santa Monica Hospital/UCLA. He is board certified in family medicine, hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Delgado has received additional certifications in health care ethics, NaPro Technology, and the Creighton Model of Natural Family Planning (NFP). He has been practicing family medicine since 1988, and hospice and palliative medicine since 2005. Dr. Delgado is a voluntary associate clinical professor at UC San Diego School of Medicine.
The first known reversal took place in 2007, when a young woman showed up in the North Carolina office of Priests for Life Medical Advisor Dr. Matt Harrison, saying she had just taken mifepristone – the first drug in a two-pill abortion regimen – but had changed her mind. Relying on prayer and a deep understanding of the way progesterone works, Dr. Harrison was able to save the baby, who is now a healthy 9-year-old.
Mifepristone is a progesterone counterfeit that tricks the body by filling the progesterone receptor with a key that will not turn the lock. Without progesterone, the placenta is starved and sloughs off, along with the baby, causing an abortion. The second drug, misoprostol, taken two days later, causes the baby to be expelled from the uterus.
Dr. Harrison hoped that by flooding his patient’s system with progesterone, it would beat the mifepristone to the progesterone receptors and support the baby’s life.
After Father Pavone published a column on the reversal, Dr. Harrison began getting calls from all over the country, and abroad. Also, physicians from the American Association of Pro-life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG), on whose board Dr. Delgado serves, reported seeing more pregnant women seeking abortion pill reversals. Two years after his success, Dr. Harrison said, Dr. Delgado independently came to same conclusion for the reversal process.
“Amazing how God works like that,” Dr. Harrison said. “I’m happy to have Dr. Delgado formally on the team.”
Dr. Delgado developed a medical protocol for the reversal and in 2012, he and Dr. Mary Davenport published a study in the Annals of Pharmacology, outlining Dr. Delgado’s protocol.
Dr. Delgado set up AbortionPillReversal.com and established a 24-hour hotline to connect women who have taken mifepristone but changed their minds to doctors all over the country willing to help.
To date, the network has celebrated the birth of more than 175 healthy babies, and another 100 women are currently pregnant. The hotline has received calls from women in 45 states and 13 countries, and more than 350 doctors – including some in Mexico, Italy and Canada – have signed on to the effort. A partnership has been established with APR Australia and a new program in Latin America – prompted by Dr. Delgado’s visits to medical schools in Mexico – is “already incubating,” he said. Plans are in the works to establish at least one APR site in Europe.
To counter claims from advocates that the reversal procedure is nothing but “junk science,” a larger case study will soon be submitted for publication to a medical journal.
“We stand on a firm medical foundation and we want to prove the logic, safety, effectiveness and rationale of APR,” Dr. Delgado said.
To help publicize the solid medical foundation of this protocol and to spread the good news of its life-saving effects, Priests for Life sponsored a press conference in January 2015 at the National Press Club in Washington, at which Dr. Delgado and other AAPLOG members spoke to the national media about APR.
In another exciting development, some doctors are having success reversing an abortion that begins with methotrexate, instead of mifepristone.
Dr. Delgado explained that methotrexate is an anti-cancer drug that attacks rapidly dividing cells – like those in a developing embryo and in the trophoblast, a precursor of the placenta. The drug is an anti-metabolite that blocks the action of folic acid, which is necessary for the placenta to develop.
The antidote to methotrexate is folinic acid, which bypasses the methotrexate. Folinic acid – which since the 1990s has been recommended for pregnant women and those who may become pregnant – is already given to patients experiencing methotrexate toxicity. It is safe for the mother and safe for her developing baby.
“We have seen many exciting developments in the abortion pill reversal process,” Dr. Delgado said, noting that two states, Arkansas and South Dakota, now require mothers to be told before they take mifepristone that an abortion reversal may be possible. Utah is also looking into similar legislation and Dr. Delgado has been contacted by a California legislator who is also interested in the reversal protocol.
“We’re very happy,” Dr. Delgado said, “to have the opportunity to save more lives.”
“We saw in the Supreme Court’s action last week in our case Priests for Life vs. HHS that the Court is not willing to rule against religious liberty. Yet the ACLU has filed a suit whose ultimate goal is to do precisely that. Only in a toxic political climate could an extremist group like the ACLU even suggest that Catholic hospitals should participate in abortion. The effort will fail.”

“The 178 Democrats who signed this letter show an enormous degree of unity when it comes to perpetuating violence against the unborn, and for allowing the corrupt abortion industry to continue operating without oversight.“

Reflection: The early feminist leader Sara Norton said, “Perhaps there will come a time when the right of the unborn to be born will not be denied or interfered with.” Authentic feminism is pro-life, because it takes seriously the message of equality – and that includes children.
Prayer: Lord, you have exalted the vocation of motherhood with honor and dignity. May all mothers see that their happiness lies in giving themselves away in love to their family and to You! Amen!
“Her message comes at a strategic time as the world is seeking to implement measures to achieve the SDGs and ensure by 2030 ‘universal access to sexual and reproductive health-care services’ and ‘Ensure universal access to sexual and reproductive health and reproductive rights. …It is well-known that Clinton has long supported abortion on demand throughout pregnancy calling it not only a woman’s right, a human right and a ‘reproductive right’ but unabashedly proclaimed in testimony before the House Foreign Affairs Committee in April 2009 that “reproductive health includes access to abortion.”
