Prolife, Pro Family Films Gaining Momentum With New Doonby Frank Capra Award

May 14th, 2012

I told you about ‘Doonby’ back in February when I blogged a review of the movie. Since then I’ve watched an advance screening of the movie and I can say that this movie is target at a larger audience htan just the pro-lifers. Peter Mackenzie, director, recently emailed me to report that ‘Doonby’ had just won The Frank Capra Award in LA’s Life Fest Awards. As he puts it, “Of course, this isn’t the Oscars but a Capra Award sounds pretty cool to me and we are all delighted. Congratulations Peter!

To read the preview of ‘Doonby’ click HERE

Other pro-life and pro-family films out recently include October Baby, Courageous, Fireproof, The Way, and Bella. (all are great films)

And by the way, I know THE AVENGERS isn’t a prolife movie, but it sure is big fun. Captain America gives much glory to God in the movie. I’ve always been a Hulk sympathizer fan. All of the “heroes” are kool, though. The entire film is entertaining from beginning to end, and nothing family offensive in the mix.

Dr. Alveda King and Dr. Day Gardner Marvel at Desperate Anti-Life Tactics as Father Pavone’s Stalker Confesses

May 11th, 2012

Congressional briefing reveals scorn for life; and Planned Parenthood’s glee over President Obama’s “change of heart” reveals he’s the most pro-abortion president ever.

ATLANTA, May 11, 2012 /Christian Newswire/ — “This week in review should definitely go down in history, as major anti-life tactics are being exposed,” says Dr. Alveda King, niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Pastoral Associate for Priests for Life.

“There’s the guilty plea of Theodore Shulman, charged with advancing terroristic threats against PFL National Director Father Frank Pavone and other pro-life leaders.”

Fr. Pavone said: “Violence against me and other leaders is wrong for the same reason that violence against children in the womb is wrong. The NYPD, the FBI, the Joint Terrorist Task Force, and the Department of Justice have done an exemplary and professional (investigative) job.”

Fr. Pavone went on to say: “…Violence and threats of violence against pro-life activists are far more common, yet far less visible in the media, than violence and threats of violence against abortionists and abortion supporters. In fact, the latter have used a handful of violent acts by people disconnected from the pro-life movement to try to tar the reputation of the entire movement, and those tactics should have no more place in the public debate over abortion than should violence itself.”

Day Gardner, Founder of National Black Prolife Union discovered another source of ill will against prolife leaders at a briefing on Capitol Hill hosted by Congresswoman Donna Edwards: “The agenda of the briefing was very clear, silence Black Prolife leaders, keep Black people in the dark about the eugenics policies behind the pro-abortion agenda. My attempts to ask questions and enter into dialogue with the conveners of the briefing were vigorously curtailed.”

“To round out this week of revelations, Planned Parenthood’s glee over President Obama’s heightened commitment to both abortion and homosexual marriage is astounding, though not surprising,” said Gardner, referring to a statement issued by PPH earlier this week commending the president for his support of same sex marriage.

“We shouldn’t be surprised that the nation’s biggest abortion provider is ecstatic over support for same sex marriage,” said Alveda King. According to PPH, abortion rights are on par with civil rights which in their minds, includes gay marriage.

Alveda concluded by saying: “Compassion says that two people of the same sex can live their lives together in peace; it’s a free country. Fairness says that those two people don’t have the right to completely restructure society in order to feel validated. I love all people, and want what’s fair for people, especially our children.”

Fr. Frank Pavone Statement on Guilty Plea of Man Who Threatened Him and Other Pro-Life Leaders

Fr. Pavone/Robert George both threatened by Theodore Shulman

Amarillo, TX – Fr. Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, today issued the following statement upon learning of Theodore Shulman’s guilty plea to charges of threatening pro-life leaders.

“I was informed today that Theodore Shulman pleaded guilty to the charges of threatening pro-life leaders, myself included. I hope that his acceptance of personal responsibility for what he did, and his readiness to serve jail time for it, is for him the beginning of a road of conversion and repentance that will reach even to the point of renouncing his position in favor of legal abortion. Violence against me and other leaders is wrong for the same reason that violence against children in the womb is wrong. Both must be rejected.

“I’m grateful to the detectives and other law enforcement personnel who have worked with me and Priests for Life throughout this case to gather and track the threats that I have received. The NYPD, the FBI, the Joint Terrorist Task Force, and the Department of Justice have done an exemplary and professional job.

“From the point of view of my work as a pro-life leader, I also take this opportunity to point out that violence and threats of violence against pro-life activists are far more common, yet far less visible in the media, than violence and threats of violence against abortionists and abortion supporters. In fact, the latter have used a handful of violent acts by people disconnected from the pro-life movement to try to tar the reputation of the entire movement, and those tactics should have no more place in the public debate over abortion than should violence itself.

“Civil debate is possible; people who disagree deeply on fundamental issues can still respect one another. My own friendship with abortion-rights pioneer Bill Baird, and the frequent pleas we have made together over the years for mutual respect among pro-life advocates and abortion-rights advocates demonstrate the path we can follow as a society. Ultimately, ‘respect for life’ means respect for the unborn and the born, for those who agree with us and those who don’t.

“Meanwhile, Mr. Shulman is in my prayers, and I extend to him my personal forgiveness.”

Video: Christian students walk out on talk given by noted Homosexual columnist and Obama suppoter Dan Savage after he referred to the Bible as Bullshit

May 10th, 2012

I ran across this blog from Samuel Gonzales about Dan Savage and some remarks he said at a High School Journalism Convention. It got me to thinking and it prompted me to write these Notes on Slavery and Race

I applaud the students that had the courage to walk out of the talk. As for the other students that cheered and applauded Mr. Savage’s anti-Christian remarks, well, we’ll just have to pray for them.

Enjoy the blog

There’s one truism about Liberals, they really don’t take the Bible seriously and only pay lip service to it to keep people from thinking they’re undercover atheists. Then you have Libs like Dan Savage who have a deep contempt for people of faith as you’ll see in this video.

What’s really alarming is how many students stayed to listen and cheer to this contemptful speech against faith beliefs.

NewsBusters reports Dan Savage, the controversial sex advice columnist and noted anti-bullying activist, caused quite a commotion at a high school journalism convention in Seattle two weeks ago when he actually cursed at the youth audience as he spoke negatively about the Bible.

Citizen Link reported April 18 (video also follows with commentary, serious vulgarity warning):

A group of high school journalism students attending a conference called “Journalism on the Edge” in Seattle over the weekend felt they were pushed over the edge by syndicated sex advice columnist Dan Savage.

Savage, the creator of the two-year-old It Gets Better Project, which encourages teens struggling with same-sex attractions to embrace homosexuality, was invited to give a keynote address last Friday at the JEA/NSPA National High School Journalism Convention.

Students were expecting him to talk about bullying. But they also got an earful about birth control, sex, and Savage’s opinions on the Bible.

A 17-year-old from California who was attending with half a dozen other students from her high school yearbook staff, was one of several students to walk out in the middle of Savage’s speech.

“The first thing he told the audience was, ‘I hope you’re all using birth control!’ ” she recalled. Then “he said there are people using the Bible as an excuse for gay bullying, because it says in Leviticus and Romans that being gay is wrong. Right after that, he said we can ignore all the ‘B.S.’ in the Bible.

HOW I SPENT MY ALMOST SUMMER VACATION

May 9th, 2012

“Oh Lord, how excellent is Your name in all the earth!” Psalm 8

Friends, last week we talked about the ant, and how I spent one morning considering the ant (referring to the scripture in Proverbs). Well, this week, I’m blessed to have a few days away from airplanes and hotel rooms (not that I’m complaining because that is part of my vocation), and can look out at the beach every morning, and hear the waves every night. The beauty of God’s handiwork is so awesome!

You may not know that I also enjoy cooking, and just some plain peace and quiet so that God can “speak to my heart.” Also, there are a few new books in the hopper, and this is the time to reflect and prepare for that.

By the way, the new National Black Prolife Coalition book, LIFE AT ALL COSTS is out. Please look for it at Xlibris, (several of my other books are there) for the ebook, paper back and hard cover. There will be a release and several book signings around Juneteenth.

Thanks for your prayers. You are in my prayers as well. Jesus is Lord, Holy Spirit is an awesome teacher. God is soooooo good.

Love and blessings, off to the beach for now! Wish you were here!

Fr. Pavone Welcomes News of Latest Lawsuit Against HHS Mandate

Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life, issued the following statement today about the latest lawsuit to be filed against the HHS contraception mandate.

“I congratulate Legatus for deciding to jump into the legal assault on the HHS Mandate. This brings the total to ten lawsuits, including that of Priests for Life. It is a strategic benefit to have various lawsuits in different parts of the country, so that more courts get involved in ruling on the issues involved, and creating the potential kind of conflict that the Supreme Court may be more likely to resolve.”

Jesus is the ROCK – Let the Truth roll! March on Mighty WARRIORS!

May 8th, 2012

When Rush Limbaugh recently called a young lady a slut for wanting to support the HHS Mandate that would pay for free birth control I was dismayed to hear a young lady called a slut because I know that you don’t win women to the Kingdom of God by calling us sluts.

There’s a website out called “Rock the Slut Vote” and it has a long list of categories that would perhaps cause a woman to be a slut. When I look at that list, I see that I have done many things on there in my lifetime before I got on my journey into the Kingdom of God in 1983 – a journey that started with repentance. Yes, repentance from my sinful mistakes, many of which are listed here.

So I was dismayed by the women celebrating being called a “slut” – not that I don’t sympathize with their need for expression – but do want to say to ladies that it’s not a badge of honor to be called a slut.

Ladies should not be called bad names. We house the wombs of the world and the wombs of the future. And so we should be regarded and cherished and respected as every human being should be respected. That’s why I found the “slut” website to be so disturbing.

The “slut” website just begs for attention from WARRIOR women; women of compassion – many of us who have been called sluts or worse, and have lived and overcome to tell our stories.

Why clear thinking women, strong women with directional purpose and goals would choose to wear a slut banner is kind of odd to me. I understand their pain, But I have found along my journey in life of over sixty years now that repentance is good for the soul.

And yes, much of the conduct is sin and not a badge of honor. No woman should want to have taxpayers pay to subsidize her sexual conduct of choice. That’s what the HHS mandate calls for by the way. Free birth control.

Ladies, if we are woman enough to choose to have sex, we should be woman enough to not require other people to foot the bill. Fair is fair.

So, again, there can be no revival without repentance. There are young women who basically need to hear the truth that there are certain kinds of behavior that will bring us greif including what we experience with the birth control, the abortions which are linked to breast cancer, cervical cancer, birth control that’s invasive leading to heart attacks and strokes. Top that off with knowing that when birth control fails, women sometimes get pregnant and choose to get abortions. There’s a long list of all these problems.

I can give you a few links from my own website, from my own research.

So anyway, I find the slut website disturbing. I find Rush’s terminology of the young lady disturbing. It’s time now to put away the injurious words and bring about healing. After all, JESUS ROCKS!

That’s why I’ve joined with my sisters at Silent No More Awareness and we are also joining with the WARRIOR women. I’m also a WARRIOR woman with the National Black Pro-life Coalition.

The Bible says that the older women should teach the younger women. I’m an old lady now, and I speak this truth in love, cuz love never fails.

Love,
Mama King

Two pro-life bills were signed by Georgia’s Governor Deal last week: the GA Fetal Pain bill and the ban on Assisted Suicides.

May 7th, 2012

I had the honor of serving on the Board of Georgia Right to Life during the beginning stages of this wonderful pro-life efforts. It’s a great victory for the pro-life movement and the the state of Georgia!

GRTL President Dan Becker today expressed thanks to Governor Nathan Deal for signing a law that protects preborn children capable of feeling pain.

“I am deeply grateful that Governor Deal has demonstrated his commitment to protecting the preborn,” Becker said, “by signing this measure, at least 1,500 babies a year will no longer be killed.”

Previously, Georgia allowed abortions for almost any reason throughout all nine months of pregnancy.

The new law, HB 954 sponsored by Rep. Doug McKillip (District 115), will take effect on January 1, 2013. It clearly establishes that Georgia has a “compelling state interest in protecting the lives of unborn children from the stage at which they are capable of feeling pain.”

That stage is now set at 20 weeks after gestation, which means no abortions can be performed after that, except in cases where it’s necessary to save the life of the mother, or to end a “medically futile” pregnancy.

“While this new law represents significant progress in saving lives, a last-minute amendment that allows doctors to end so-called futile pregnancies is a first step to establishing a eugenic policy in Georgia,” Becker said, “It opens the door to destroying babies doctors think may be less than perfect.”

Noting that the proposal prompted a heated and emotional debate, Becker added “I commend those legislators who honored the sanctity of life and did not abandon their principles.”

Georgia now joins six other states that have passed similar laws.

Georgia Right to Life Hails Assisted Suicide Ban Signing

GRTL President Dan Becker today praised Governor Nathan Deal for signing the state’s new assisted suicide law.

“Stopping the immoral and barbaric practice of killing in the name of compassion is the right thing to do,” Becker said, “Governor Deal deserves credit for endorsing this measure.”

The bill, HB 1114 sponsored by Rep. Ed Setzler (District 35), was passed in response to last February’s decision by the Georgia Supreme Court that struck down the state’s previous weak and ineffective law.

The law becomes effective immediately.

The old law only prevented advertising assisted suicide services, but did not prohibit the procedure itself.

“Any society that claims to value life cannot justify taking a life lest we risk establishing a public policy with its attendant expectation of a ‘duty to die’,” Becker said, “The Hippocratic Oath says, ‘I will give no deadly medicine to any one if asked, nor suggest any such counsel …’ “

“We should instead devote our knowledge and resources to helping people in desperate situations.”

Priests for Life Calls for Chinese Dissident to Be Brought to Safety

Priests for Life has joined calls for the U.S. State Department to immediately take steps to bring to safety Chinese forced-abortion dissident Chen Guangcheng, his family and anyone who helped him escape house arrest two weeks ago.

“There is no way to ensure their safety if they remain in China,” said Father Frank Pavone, National Director of Priests for Life and Gospel of Life Ministries. “The whole world is watching this situation, and we must act now.

“Chen has been courageous enough to speak out against forced abortion and sterilization in China. But for too long, the United States has been silent about the brutality with which these policies are enforced, and the way those who oppose them are silenced. We cannot be silent about the very real danger facing Chen, his wife, Yuan Weijing, and those who helped him.”

Father Pavone urged everyone to contact their U.S. Senators and Representatives about this matter.

The Parliamentary Network for Critical Issues, a ministry of Gospel of Life, has urged Parliamentarians to voice concern for Chen to Chinese officials and embassies in their respective countries; to call, fax and email national embassies in China to create global concern for Chen’s well-being, and to use social media to keep the international spotlight on Chen and his family. The Christian Defense Coalition has organized a prayer vigil Friday at noon, in front of the White House. The location is 1600 Pennsylvania Ave NW, on the Lafayette Park side. Priests for Life will be one of the groups represented.

We Commend New York Senator for His Bold Stand for Truth…

May 3rd, 2012

It took a lot of courage to speak the truth and that’s exactly what Senator Ruben Diaz did. Pray for Senator Diaz as he has come under a lot of attack from those that would keep the light of truth from being shown on such a contraversial issue as abortion.

African-American State Senator attacked for comparing the concept of pro-choice on abortion to Hitler! Says: “Hitler was pro-choice”

Bronx state Sen. Ruben Diaz Tuesday invoked Hitler as a pro-choice advocate in a rant against a bill to strengthen the state’s abortion laws. Hitler “chose to send the Jews to Auschwitz,” Democrat Diaz declared in an email to supporters and reporters. “That was not their choice that was Hitler’s choice.”

Diaz, a Pentecostal minister, was writing about his opposition to the Reproductive Health Act many of his fellow Democrats are pushing.

Read Mr. Diaz’s full statement on abortion below:

I am State Senator Rubén Díaz and I represent the 32nd Senatorial District in Bronx County. You should know that I am also an Ordained Minister of the Church of God with headquarters in Cleveland, Tennessee, the Pastor of Christian Community Neighborhood Church located at 1437 Longfellow Avenue Bronx, NY and the President of the New York Hispanic Clergy Organization.

You should know that Governor Cuomo and members of the Legislature are in the process of pushing and approving the Reproductive Health Act. This legislation will make abortion on demand a reality in the State of New York.

Today, I feel privileged to write to you about the unborn in America and I would like to start with two questions: First, what is an abortion? And second is a fetus a life? Simply stated, an abortion is the termination of a pregnancy and the destruction of a fetus.

You should know that before January 22nd, 1973, (39 years ago), which I call a day of infamy in American history, abortions were illegal in most states and were only performed for extreme circumstances.

In 1970, a lady by the name of Sarah Weddington, a lawyer from Texas went to court and filed a lawsuit on behalf of a pregnant woman named Norma McCorrey. This lady, Norma McCorrey did not want her name to be released therefore she went under the alias of Jane Roe.

The purpose of that lawsuit was to overturn the State of Texas anti-abortion laws. The lawsuit charged that the laws in Texas were unconstitutional and that they violated women’s rights under the first, fourth, fifth, ninth and fourteenth Amendments of the United States Constitution.

You also should know that it was then-Dallas District Attorney Henry Wade who was in charge of defending the State of Texas in that historic case which came to be known as Roe Versus Wade.

You should know that since that day of infamy, January 22nd 1973, every year, more than 1.5 million abortions are conducted in America. That means that in the past 39 years at the rate of 4,000 babies each day, we will have killed and slaughtered 60 million American citizens.

Now let’s go back to the original question:
